"INTERIOR MINA" : TESTIMONIO NOVELADO DE RENÉ POPPE
El texto de interior mina no es solamente el testimonio de René Poppe; es de todos los trabajadores mineros. He ahí su gran importancia. Al leer este libro, todo obrero minero, recodará su ingreso a la mina y cómo ésta se adueño del hombre. René, con su testimonio de interior mina, ha retratado a todo el proletario del subsuelo.

In 1964, I met René Poppe in Mexico City. I was a naive gringo from the USA and he was correct in not appreciating my dismal ignorance. But for reasons that only life and destiny can tap, we became friends. For almost a year, he diligently opened my mind to the reality of life in his homeland. One day, he announced that he was returning home and invited me to go visit him in order to see that reality with my own eyes. So I did and I saw that everything he'd said was as described. The emotions and the vibrations in all his previous descriptions and assessments had conveyed nothing but the truth. His power of understanding and ability to communicate hinted, if not predicted, he would do something important for the people of Bolivia. Even then, his love for the working class and especially the miners radiated from him. You could just feel it. That he would have gone to work with them came as no surprise to me. But what he learned from them subsequently, I find to be of deep significance. It is not only valuable to the history of Bolivian society but also, in my opinion, a major contribution to global culture and planetary affairs. Just like its author, Interior Mina will prove to hold many dimensions.
